Nico Amortegui is a full time artist based in Charlotte. Known for large-scale paintings and
installations, his mural and sculpture works can be found in numerous cities throughout NC as well as Atlanta, DC, and Tel Aviv. Having exhibited in more than 50 group shows plus 11 solo shows, Nico’s art brut style is familiar yet distinctly his own menagerie of cultural experiences. A native of Bogota, Colombia, Nico grew up among a family filled with creative types from architects and carpenters to designers and visual artists. He learned numerous skills and trades by doing and has a tremendous appreciation for generational artisan craft. His body of work is influenced by the genre of folk art and his love for symmetry and bold color.
